Quetzalli Avilez, LCSW
Quetzalli's name derives from the nahuatl language and it is pronounced ket-SA-lee (always feel free to ask the correct pronunciation). Quetzalli attended California State University San Marcos where she received a bachelors in psychology and masters degree in social work. She is a bilingual licensed clinical social worker and has been working with marginalized populations for over five years. As a social worker, she has worked in many mental health settings, such as, psychiatric hospital, community mental health, emergency migrant shelter and a school based program.
Quetzalli utilizes a client-centered framework where she creates a supportive, nonjudgmental environment that encourages acceptance, authenticity and vulnerability. As a Latina, she understands the importance of drawing strength from cultural practices and spiritual connections. The mind, body and spirit connection plays a vital role in healing and when all three are in harmony it can lead to a greater sense of wholeness, increase our resiliency and self awareness. She enjoys working with adults, teens and families in guiding them through their emotional and generational healing.
In her free time she enjoys cruising down coast highway, being outdoors, reading and spending time with family and 2 dogs.
