Michael Brown, ASW #116594

Michael graduated California State University, Chico with his bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in African-American Studies and completed his masters in Social Work from California State University, San Marcos. Michaels clinical training consisted of providing individual and group therapy for high-school students as well as working as a mental health counselor on a college campus providing therapy services to college students.

This experience led Michael to currently working part-time as an adjunct college mental health counselor, supporting students in improving their mental health and academic success. Michael is trained in and utilizes multiple evidenced-based modalities and clinical interventions including but not limited to narrative therapy, behavioral therapies(CBT, DBT, ACT), and mindfulness. Michael’s approach in therapy is to guide folks back to their own inner wisdom, their values, and bring healing to the mind, body, and spirit.

In the therapy space Michael brings an authentic, social-justice oriented, and decolonized approach. Incorporating humor, exploring ancestral forms of healing, spirituality, music, and bringing culture into sessions. Michael is a relational-therapist, prioritizing the relationship and human connection first above all else. Michael specializes in supporting BIPOC teens and adults and enjoys supporting people working through blockages relating to imposter syndrome, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, issues relating to constructs of masculinity/men's issues, identity exploration and expression, spiritual/religious trauma, intergenerational trauma, anxiety and depression.

In his free time Michael enjoys playing basketball at the gym, taking a yoga class, hiking, and going to catch some live music.
